Walking in Divine Miracles
By Rev. Jerry Moses, Assistant to the President of Movieguide and Advisor to Battle Ready Ministries
God wants us to humble ourselves and participate in His Miracles, all proving the love of God which is beyond our comprehension.
I wrote about this in my book, Divine Intervention. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your life.”
To do this we have to totally receive and live in the grace of God 24/7. Life is a walk with God through His grace. We must always be aware that we are sinners saved by the grace of God and stay in love with Jesus because He saved us from eternal hell.
This is a game changer! It opens the doors of His grace in our lives to experience His divine intervention through signs, wonders, and miracles. God loves you too much to let you stay in mediocrity. He is going to push you into your destiny.
Scripture tells us the following: Romans 8:28 says, “All things work together for good for those who love God according to His purpose.” I Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in everything for this is the will of God for your life.” Hebrews 2:1 says, “We must pay the most careful attention to what we heard so that we do not drift away. For since this message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received is just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?”
This salvation was first announced by the Lord and was informed by those who heard Him. In addition to signs and miracles, God also testified to it by the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Eternal Security
So, let’s talk about eternal security. We have all seen professed Christians walk away from their faith in God. This reminds me of the story of a little girl who goes on the church bus with her memory verse, Mark 11:22, “Have faith in God.”
Her window was open and the paper with her verse on it flew out the window. She jumped into the aisle and shouted, “Stop the bus! I’ve lost my faith in God!”
God knows who keeps their faith in Him and who does not. We must stay in our personal faith and pray for those who seem to have lost it. Follow in grace and believe for others as well as yourself.
When I was growing up, I went to a little country church in the Allegany Mountains of New York State. Our Sunday night services began with everyone calling out their favorite hymn number. We would sing the first and last verses. I would always call out, “Page 67 – Wonderful Grace of Jesus – first and last verses.” We were Baptists but the hymn was Pentecostal. It was sung like the sound of a train locomotive.
“Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Deeper than the mighty rolling sea, Higher than a mountain, Sparkling like a fountain, All sufficient grace for even me. Broader than the scope of my transgressions, Greater far than all my sin and shame. Oh, magnify the precious name of Jesus. Praise His Name.”
Titus 3:5 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy He saved us by the Holy Spirit.”
Satan and the flesh try to get a Christian to believe that they must earn their salvation by good works. This would put our salvation on hold to still be worked out, which is not the case. Once saved, always saved.
The penalty for our sins was paid once and for all by the precious blood of Jesus. We still sin but I John 1:9 says if we confess sin it is forgiven. So, we are talking about fellowship with God, not losing our salvation.
God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent
Let’s state who God is. He is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent. We just must realize that we are secure in Him. So, how do we please Him during our time here on Earth? First, we love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul. Second, we love our neighbor as ourselves.
How do we do this? Get humble and stay humble through the Word and worship. As Ray Stephens sang, “Have a little talk with yourself. Say to yourself, ‘If God be for you, who can be against you?’ Amen. So be it.”
The Holy Spirit puts us in a love relationship with Jesus that overrules the world, flesh, and the devil. It overrules everything! God is mighty to save and keep. We all experience rejection, but look up –
God is still with you. Wow!
Sampson was an out-of-control sinner and a total failure, but God was always with him. Faith rose up in him to defeat the Philistines and his name is written in the faith chapter in Hebrews 11. It was his faith that took him there. Faith and grace, gifts of God, come through the Holy Spirit.
You may be down for the count, but God is there with you. You may be flying high in the sky and God is with you. The wind in our wings that makes us fly is the Holy Spirit. God said David was a man after His own heart. What a success he was, and what a total failure he was.
Let’s see what David prayed to God with a life like this. Psalm 51:10-12 says, “Create in me a pure heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. O do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and create in me a willing spirit to sustain me.”
Let’s make this personal by looking at the three key phrases he speaks here: A pure heart, a steadfast spirit, God’s presence – the Holy Spirit. The Lord wants us to be secure in Him. This comes through receiving His grace and mercy daily and thanking Him for it.
We are saved and nothing can change that because the Holy Spirit was given to us as our seal of redemption. Jesus’ robe of righteousness was put on us which made us the children of God forever.
Remember the bottom line as you walk through the good and bad of life. It’s called Positional Truth. We are children of God, living in the kingdom of God on earth. Our Heavenly Father will never leave us or forsake us. We can cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us.
The Loss of Everything
Some years ago I was going through the loss of everything – my marriage, my home, my job as a minister at a large successful church in the Bay Area.
I was living in a half-way house, sleeping on the living room floor. My first night there I taught Psalm 23:1 to the guys in the living room. “The Lord is my shepherd. I don’t need anything else.”
I went to a service at the church of a pastor friend of mine who walked by me and ignored me. That morning they sang the hymn, “Does Jesus Care?”
Tears fell down my face as I listened to the chorus, “I know He cares; I know He cares, His Heart is touched with my grief. When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares.” Your world may turn upside down, but Jesus will always be with you. He will take your hand. You will step into His Eternity and He will say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the Kingdom.”
In looking back at the time that we found Jesus as our Savior, Lord, and King, a stake was driven into the ground to never forget that day. This keeps us in the love of Jesus. It reminds us of the love and grace of God and that our sins forgiven.
It helps us to walk in the fruits of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Paul speaks of this in Galatians 5:16, “So I say live by the spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”
Unfortunately, the Bible’s message about the Holy Spirit is often replaced today with motivational and visitor-friendly sermons. The authority of the Word of God is being replaced by the wisdom of man.
God says, “My thoughts are not your thoughts nor your ways My Ways.” Isaiah 55:8 says, “As far as the east is from the west are My thoughts from yours.” Our commitment is to the Bible which demands our faith to be in God and God alone.
Presence of the Holy Spirit is Like Nothing Else on Earth
Our relationship with the Holy Spirit who wrote the Word of God is an absolute necessity! Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father and He has sent the Holy Spirit to us.
The presence of the Holy Spirit is like nothing else on earth. So we do not grieve Him. Ephesians 4:31 says, “To get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgives you.”
The Holy Spirit gives us empathy and sincerity with family and friends. We are not to quench the Holy Spirit. I Thessalonians 5:19 says, “Do not put out the Spirit’s fire, do not treat prophesies with contempt.”
God brings people into our lives to speak to who we are in Christ and what we are going to do for Christ. When I was 20, my pastor asked me to make house calls with him. We ended the day in front of the church. I said I hoped some day I could pastor a church like this. He replied, “Jerry, you will pastor a huge church far bigger than this.”
I was absolutely shocked by his words, but I respected him and believed him. At the age of 34, I (who came from that little village of 250) was pastoring the largest church in San Jose, California. It was one of the biggest campuses in America. What I am saying is that you must believe in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit and believe in a God of miracles because of the miracle of your own salvation.
Life is joy and sorrow. God our Father is with us in both. The Bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength and in our failures God is with us through the Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to be with us. Matthew 12:20 says, “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not put out Till He leads justice to victory.”
The Apostle
In the movie The Apostle, actor Robert Duval sings a song called “Victory is Mine.” The lyrics go, “I told old Satan get thee behind, victory is mine today.”
God is sufficient in every situation. To know this, we must access His grace, walk in His grace, and live out His grace. And stand at the foot of the cross where He died for our sins and serve our risen Savior.
Hear what the songwriter wrote, “I serve a risen Savior. He’s in the world today. I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy; I hear His voice of cheer. And just the time I need Him, He is always near.”
It’s a life changer! Have your devotions first thing in the morning. Pray to the Father and He will talk and walk with you that day. Put worship music on in the house and in the car. His presence will be with you.
I have driven all over the United States for the last 25 years, working with five major ministries. I have never had an accident or a ticket. I am now 76 and still in Los Angeles traffic and traveling all over the West.
Once when I was driving through Oklahoma in the sunshine, a dreadful storm unexpectedly appeared. Cars were running off the road. I rebuked Satan in the storm, “Be gone in the name of Jesus!”
Immediately it was again a sunny day. Another time my wife and I were in Portland driving on a narrow bridge in fog and rain when an eighteen-wheeler suddenly came onto the bridge toward us. I had no room to pass so I turned the car into the bridge rail and drove safely through. We confirmed together later that we had a miracle on that bridge.
As the born-again children of God Almighty, we must continually be in worship and the Word. The first thing every day have devotions. Confess sin daily. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Then walk with Him and enjoy His presence and love. These are “Battle Ready!” duties. We’ll talk again.
In the meantime, expect a miracle of grace in your life.
Here is God’s Word for this very hour. I Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s Will for you in Christ Jesus.”
