Rev. Billy Graham’s Dream Came True with The Renewal and The Return
This is a momentous day in the history of America – a day destined from the foundations of the world.
As my great-grandfather-plus “Ode to Joy” poet and playwright Friedrich von Schiller once said:
“There is no such thing as chance; and what seems to us merest accident springs from the deepest source of destiny.”
This is the day Billy Graham, David Wilkerson, Reinhard Bonnke, The Renewal Co-Founders Rev. Kevin Jessip and Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, and millions of others have been praying for.
As my co-author Paul McGuire told us:
“The Return was the single most important thing that America could do and was a sacred and prophetic moment! This was just as sacred and prophetic as when the Pilgrims and Puritans entered a covenant with God based on Deuteronomy 28. The Return was the follow-up to what the Pilgrims and Puritans did. I believe God has been waiting for this.”
The Renewal is the next step after The Return, which took place September 26, 2020, on the National Mall with a quarter million people in attendance and millions watching. It was the first National Day of Repentance in America since the time of President Abraham Lincoln.
At times of great crisis, the ancient Israelites would often hold sacred solemn assemblies like The Return to repent of their sins. Afterward, they would renew the covenants God made with them.
Today we’re renewing the covenant the Pilgrims made with God four centuries ago in The Mayflower Compact. In this document that helped inspire the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and birth of America, the Pilgrims dedicated America to the “Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith.”
This is what Rev. Jessip told The Washington Times:
“I believe in this darkest hour of American history, we’re about to see the greatest move of God ever, as dark and light converge in this epic battle of the end times.”
Last summer, Rev. Jessip asked me to fly to Florida to work on a book on Bible prophecy and current events and the need for repentance and revival.
On the flight, I read a book called A Prophet with Honor: The Billy Graham Story. What I discovered was stunning.
Starting in the late 1940s, Graham often gave sermons on the hope of Second Coming of Christ, speaking of a worldwide increase in natural disasters and other signs of the “end of the age.”
He spoke of many societal problems, warning our only choices were “revival or judgment.”
Throughout the Bible, God often gave ample warning before judgment came. Noah spent decades building the Ark before the Flood came.
In 2013, I had the honor to interview Graham for a seven-part series of news stories.
“There’s a great deal to say in the Bible about the signs we’re to watch for and when these signs all converge at one place, we can be sure that we’re close to the end of the age,” Graham said. “And those signs, in my judgment, are converging now for the first time since Jesus made those predictions.”
Graham compared America to ancient Nineveh. When God sent the prophet Jonah to warn them of judgment, the king and the people repented, and judgment was averted. Graham said he believed the same thing could happen again, this time in America.
Two years later, while executive editor of Charisma magazine, I had the honor to meet Rev. Jessip. He told me he was a descendant of “Pilgrim Fathers” Pastor John Robinson who had sent the Pilgrims to America aboard the Mayflower and that he felt called to lead a national repentance movement. I told him about my interview with Graham and that I’d do whatever I could to help him.
Later, he told me that in 2011, after listening to a sermon – “A Call to Anguish” – by the late Times Square Church Pastor David Wilkerson that he and his wife Donna felt compelled to pray and “fast television” to discover the heart of God for the world.
After Wilkerson’s death in 2011, evangelist Reinhard Bonnke moved to Palm Beach, Florida where the Jessips were living. At the time, Bonnke said God spoke to him in a dream, saying “America will be saved!”
Rev. Jessip said he had a vision in he which he was shown:
“The greatest harvest of souls in history as a wave of salvation mixed with the fire of the Holy Spirit would sweep across the land by a sovereign move of God’s hand.”
A year later, after Donald Trump was elected President, my literary agent suggested that McGuire and I write a follow-up to our bestseller The Babylon Code called Trumpocalypse.
We included an interview with Rev. Jessip in the book and called for a National Day of Repentance, he later asked us to write the White House Executive Summary, and by a miracle of God, The Return went forward on September 26, 2020.
On that day, for the first time since President Lincoln, former President Trump issued a proclamation for “A Day of Prayer and Return.”
Now, going back to A Prophet with Honor, I was stunned to learn that Graham had asked every president from Harry S. Truman to George W. Bush to call for a National Day of Repentance, yet none did. It wasn’t until the Return that former President Trump issued that proclamation.
Shortly after Trumpocalypse came out, retired U.S. Army Chaplain and Colonel David Giammona, president of Battle Ready Ministries, contacted me to help him write and get a book published.
The Military Guide to Armageddon was released on January 5, 2021.
Col. Giammona couldn’t be with us today, but he asked me to relay this message to you:
“I’ve had conversations with many spiritual leaders in our nation. America has been blessed with many revivals, renewals, and awakenings. It’s time to realize we are at war, for the Church to wake up and arise, for pastors to take up the mantle and proclaim truth, for all of us to stop hiding, to send the powers of darkness back to where they belong!”
